Reclaim Your Day by Tackling Pain at Its Root Cause!

Helping you move comfortably and get on with life

Life is busy enough without pain getting in the way.

Whether you've woken up with a sore back, your neck has been aching after long days at a desk, an old injury has started playing up, or everyday movement has simply become harder, you don't have to just put up with it.

As an experienced Osteopath in Auckland, I take the time to listen to what you're experiencing, understand how your pain is affecting your everyday life and work out how we can help.

I treat men and women from 5 years old through to 100+, because being comfortable, mobile and able to enjoy life matters at every age.

My goal is simple: to help make everyday life achievable again.

Sarah is awesome! Went to Chiro to solve my back problems but after 2months still felt just a bit better so decided to look for alternative and found Sarah Boughtwood Osteopath. Life changing just after 3 sessions I really felt a big difference and my back pain slowly disappeared. Highly recommend!

Common aches & pains

What can an Osteopath help with?

I see patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal aches, pains and injuries.

Common reasons people come to see me include:

Back pain

Lower back pain, upper back pain, stiffness or discomfort that makes sitting, standing, lifting or moving difficult.

Neck pain

Neck stiffness, aching or pain associated with work, driving, sleeping, exercise or everyday activities.

Headaches

Some headaches can have a musculoskeletal component, particularly where neck and upper back tension or movement are contributing factors.

Shoulder pain

Pain, stiffness or reduced movement that makes reaching, lifting, exercising or everyday activities uncomfortable.

Hip pain

Hip or buttock pain affecting walking, exercise, sitting, sleeping or getting around comfortably.

Knee pain

Musculoskeletal problems that affect walking, stairs, exercise or other everyday movement.

Sports injuries

Whether you've recently injured yourself or an old injury keeps returning, treatment can form part of your recovery and return to activity.

Work-related aches and pains

Desk work, driving, standing, lifting and repetitive activities can all place physical demands on your body.

General stiffness and soreness

Sometimes there isn't one specific injury — you simply don't feel as mobile or comfortable as you used to.

If you're unsure whether osteopathy can help with your particular problem, get in touch and we can discuss it.

Osteopathy that starts with listening

Pain can affect far more than just your body. It can stop you exercising, make working uncomfortable, interfere with your sleep, make playing with your children difficult or turn simple everyday tasks into something you have to think twice about.

Maybe you can't:

  • Bend down without your back complaining

  • Sit at your desk without neck or shoulder pain

  • Get through a full day at work comfortably

  • Exercise the way you'd like to

  • Pick up your children without pain

  • Walk the dog without your hip or back aching

  • Garden without feeling stiff afterwards

  • Sleep comfortably because of your pain

  • Enjoy your favourite hobbies

  • Move as freely as you used to

These things matter.

When you come to see me, I want to understand not just where you hurt, but what your pain is stopping you from doing.

We'll talk about your symptoms, your lifestyle, your work, your activities and what you'd like to get back to doing.

Then we'll create a treatment approach that's appropriate for you.

I found Sarah to be very thorough, professional and knowledgable - a real master of her trade. She helped me to apply for ACC funding and worked wonders with her treatments. Thank you Sarah, I highly recommend your services!

Experienced osteopathic care for every stage of life

Your body, lifestyle and goals change throughout your life — so your osteopathic treatment should too.

Children & teenagers

Growing bodies, busy school days, sport and changing activity levels can sometimes contribute to aches, pains and musculoskeletal problems. I see children from 5 years old, tailoring assessment and treatment to their age, individual needs and comfort.

Adults

Whether you're working at a desk, running a business, exercising regularly, raising a family or simply trying to keep up with a busy life, pain can make everything harder. Osteopathic treatment can help address a wide range of musculoskeletal aches and pains and support you in getting back to the activities you enjoy.

Older adults

Staying mobile and independent becomes increasingly important as we age. Whether stiffness is making gardening harder, walking is uncomfortable or you're finding everyday tasks more difficult, treatment can be tailored to your individual needs and goals. You're never too old to want to move comfortably.

More than treating where it hurts

One of the things I love about osteopathy is looking at the whole person. Where you feel pain isn't always the only area that needs attention. Your posture, movement, muscles, joints, previous injuries, work, exercise and everyday habits can all influence how your body feels and moves. I'll assess what's relevant to your symptoms and explain what I find in straightforward language. Then we'll work together on a plan that makes sense for your body and your life. Treatment may include techniques such as soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, stretching and manipulation where appropriate, alongside advice and exercises to help you manage your symptoms and keep moving. You'll always know why we're doing something and how it relates to your goals.

Treatment designed around your life

I don't believe the goal of treatment should simply be:

"Let's make the pain go away."

The bigger question is:

"What do you want to be able to do?"

Maybe you want to get back to the gym. Perhaps you want to pick up your grandchildren without worrying about your back. Maybe you want to return to running after an injury. Perhaps you simply want to get through a busy working day without constantly noticing your neck. Or maybe you want to be able to garden all afternoon and still get off the couch afterwards. These are the goals that matter. My role is to help you move towards them.

You don't have to wait until you're in severe pain

You don't need to be struggling to walk before you seek help. If pain or stiffness is affecting your sleep, work, exercise, hobbies or ability to get through everyday tasks comfortably, it's worth having it assessed. And if you've had the same problem for months or years, that doesn't mean you have to live with it forever. Let's work out what's going on and what we can do to help

An Osteopath who listens

I believe good healthcare starts with making people feel comfortable, listened to and understood. I'll take the time to hear your story, explain what's happening and involve you in decisions about your treatment. There are no silly questions and no expectation that you should already know what's wrong. You know your body best. My job is to listen, assess and help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms. Whether you're 5 or 100+, whether you're an athlete or don't exercise at all, whether this is your first experience of osteopathy or you've been seeing an Osteopath for years — you're welcome here.

Helping you get back to doing what you love

Ultimately, osteopathic treatment isn't about spending your life on a treatment table. It's about helping you live your life. It's about being able to:

Move. Work. Exercise. Garden. Walk. Play. Lift. Sleep. Travel. Enjoy.

Without pain constantly getting in the way. My goal is to help you feel more comfortable and confident in your body, so you can get on with the things that matter to you.
